Overview

Built in 1987, Charlotte Sports Park is home to the Tampa Bay Rays spring training. Located in Port Charlotte, FL, Charlotte Sports Park holds roughly 7,000 and has been named the number one spring training facility by USA Today back in 2014. For the first 15 years, the Texas Rangers called Charlotte Sports Park home for spring training until heading west to Arizona after the 2002 season. Renovated in 2009, the facility now includes a playground for kids beyond right field and a tiki bar in the outfield.

Best Seats

The best seats at the Charlotte Sports Park are in sections 103-113. These sections are the closest to the field and stretch from dugout to dugout, with 106-110 sitting in between the home and visitors dugout.

Dugouts

The Rays dugout is located in front of sections 103-105 on the first base side. The visitors bench can be found in front of sections 111-113 on the third base side.

Seats in the Shade

In sections 201-206 you can find shade in every row but the first. On the third base side in sections 212-2118 you can find shade in rows 10 and up. Keep in mind, a lot depends on the time of the game when it comes to the shade as well.

Parking

Behind the stadium a large grass field has the capacity for 1,500 cars, with additional room across the street at the Charlotte County Fair Grounds. These lots usually run about $10 a car and the Harley-Davidson lot east of the stadium is typically half the cost when open to the public.

Seats to Avoid

There really isn't a bad seat at Charlotte Sports Park, as the ballpark is small enough where every seat has a great view. However, seats in sections 103 and 113 sit behind the TV camera platforms at the end of the dugout, and could cause viewing issues at times.
