The New Orleans Pelicans are still seeking their first NBA championship.

The Pelicans lack a natural rival, but did face off with the Golden State Warriors in two playoff series with Anthony Davis, including a loss in the Western Conference semifinals in the 2017-18 season.

The Pelicans will look to build around the duo of Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram. Williamson, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 draft, had a breakout second season, earning All-Star honors. Ingram, an All-Star in 2020, comes off another solid offensive season. In a push to strengthen its roster, the Pelicans acquired center Jonas Valanciunas and guard Devonte’ Graham in a three-team trade with the Memphis Grizzlies and Charlotte Hornets, and guard Tomas Satoransky in a sign-and-trade that sent Lonzo Ball to the Chicago Bulls. The Pelicans also hope for contributions from returnees Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Josh Hart, Jaxson Hayes, Naji Marshall, Willy Hernangomez, and Kira Lewis. Rookie forward Trey Murphy III looked promising in Summer League.

A city ordinance requires fans attending games at Smoothie King Center to provide proof of either receiving at least one dose of an approved COVID-19 vaccine, or a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than 72 hours before the game. The wearing of masks is mandatory at all times inside the arena except when actively eating or drinking.

Children age 2 and under do not need a ticket to attend games at Smoothie King Center, unless they require their own seat.
