The Panthers are still seeking their first Stanley Cup. Florida advanced to their first (and only) Stanley Cup Finals in their third season, losing to the Colorado Avalanche in the 1995-96 season.

The Panthers’ main rival is a fellow Florida franchise, the Tampa Bay Lightning. The teams annually vie for the Governor’s Cup.

The Panthers had a busy offseason, re-signing forwards Sam Bennett, Anthony Duclair, and Carter Verhaeghe, and defensemen Gustav Forsling and Brandon Mountour. Florida also traded for forward Sam Reinhart and signed veteran center Joe Thornton. Defenseman Aaron Ekblad hopes to return to form after suffering a broken leg, while MacKenzie Weegar hopes to build on a breakout 2020-21 season in Ekblad’s absence. The Panthers also hope for a breakthrough season from center Anton Lundell, their first-round draft pick in 2020. The most interesting position battle is at goaltender, where Spencer Knight is expected to challenge Sergei Bobrovsky for the starting job.

Joel Quenneville, who won three Stanley Cups with the Chicago Blackhawks, enters his third season as head coach of the Panthers. Quenneville, a longtime former NHL player, is second all-time in coaching wins in league history.

Fans are not currently required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 to attend games at FLA Live Arena. Masks are encouraged to be worn inside the arena.

Children under the age of 2 do not need a ticket to attend games at FLA Live Arena, but must remain seated in the lap of an accompanying ticketed adult.
